Another lil' project...

...for my REALLY bright kitchen. Well today, I went to help one of my sweet mamaw's peel wallpaper off her bathroom (not to fun I must say) and tomorrow I have to paint it - but I'm happy to help - she's always so good to me. And then when I left there - I stopped by to see my other sweet grandmother and I spotted these bright yellow plates she had - that she wasn't doing anything with. I told her how much I liked them and she insisted I take them - "oh no mamaw - you keep them - they are yours, I'd say" and like she always does - if she knows you'll enjoy something - she is gonna make sure you have it. So, needless to say - they came home with me and here's what happened to them.

A couple of yellow-gold plates, some black and white papers, some paint, some modge podge, a button or two and a tad of ric-rac.

I put the paper in the center and couldn't quite decide what to put on it. I thought and thought - about buttons (didn't have enough), another layer of paper - anyway, in the end I simply decided to paint a flower...

...and an "M" for our last name.

I added a yellow button for the center of the flower, put some red ric-rac around the "M" and tied them both up with heavy ribbon and black and white checked covered buttons.

So now I must go do something productive - like laundry.

But most importantly - today I got to visit all four of my grandparents - how lucky am I - so incredibly blessed. And in remembering my blessings - my thoughts go out to my good friend, Andi, who lost her precious Grannie this week.

"The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the Lord will be your everlasting light." Isiah 60:19-20

Let us always be mindful of our blessings.
Have a wonderful day.
Cathy

You are just so talented! I would have never thought of doing something like that.

It is great that you got to spend time with your grandparents. Mine are still living as well and I love being with them.

Have a great day!

I made the letters "HOME". They turned out cute, but I had a few bubbles in the paper and I couldn't smooth them out. Next time I do it, I will probably use a spray adhesive.

One more thing! I used that EXACT same polka dot paper on my "M"! That is a great idea about the plate! I have a couple fiesta plates that would look cute on! I am so glad you share all of your ideas with us! It really makes decorating so much fun! Especially when you do it yourself! Then even if you mess up, you still are proud of your project!

Cathy, you just can't hide talent. The plates are so cute and perfect for your kitchen. Having your parents and grandparents is a true blessing. My hubby and I don't have either parents or Grandparents living so treasure your time with yours.

These turned out great. I love how you have something hanging in your kitchen that was your grandmother's but shows your amazing talents.
