I needed a "pot filler"...

... ya know when at the end of summer your flowers start to look a lil' "spent" yet it is a bit to early to plant fall flowers - well, I'm there! This asparagus fern was looking a lil' lonely and I couldn't bare to toss out a perfectly healthy plant so I begin to think of ways to enjoy it a tad longer before I planted a mum or nestled a pumpkin in there. And since we are gonna have some company in the next couple of days - it needed some sprucing up.
So here was my quick fix and I think it'll do the trick for the back porch steps.
My lonely asparagus fern looking for some company...
...I found a small grapevine wreath that fit the top of the pot - simply laid it in there and let the
fern fall around it...(honeysuckle vine would be pretty wrapped around it also)

...got my "most absolute favorite" antique watering can (gifted to me by my sweet papaw, Jodi) and placed it in the pot - that wreath holds everything nice and steady...

...filled it with water and cut some of my beautiful limelight hydrangea blooms.

So - since "back door quests are best" - this lil' pot will be there to greet them when they show up. Well, until pumpkin thyme anyway.
Have a happy start to your week my friends!
Cathy

  6. What a cute solution! Hope your Summer has been going great. Our's has been way too hot and allergy ridden...even poor Shadow had a bout. Our air in the Van had been out for a few weeks and we haven't been able to go far from home.
After many fixes and bad parts...woohoo..it's fixed. We'll be on the road agian......

  7. That is a very creative solution. Even with watering the heat has really done a number on my plants/flowers.

  9. Cathy,
Are you going to have any of the purple millet (sp) not sure that is what it was called? I am talking about the stuff that looked like corn...but was a purple color. I found an old shoppin/tote cart like yours and I have a couple old rakes...really like your fall display last yr. cant remember it all but thought I would fix something. I did remember the purple stuff looked great.

  13. Hi Cathy,
You always amazing me with your creativity! That's why I always love visiting with you! We have had such a heat wave that we lost a few plants that we had transplanted around the yards. I guess they must have gone into shock. So this weekend we are going to pull the dead ones and replace them.
There is a bit of fall in the air now and its so welcoming! I love fall it's my favorite time of year.
I'm sure your sweet son is all settled back in school now. My little Grandson who is 5 just started Kindergarden, little boys are so darn cute and sure love there Moms. Ty must have given his Mommy (my daughter) one hundred kisses good by (such a big boy now).
Have a sweet day just as sweet as you...
    Big hugs~Elizabeth
