With Just a lil' paint - you can.....

Make your own curtain rods - I know many of you have probably done this - but here is a quick pic of one of my rods. I just needed a short curtain rod - so I made it out of large dowel rod - spray painted black - purchased wooden balls at the craft store - painted them black, added a few polka dots and a touch of antique glaze. Quick, easy, fun and mine. Doesn't get much easier than that!

Also, with a lil' paint you can turn a simple picture frame into a statement. These frames were very "plain Jane" - until they were papered with a "bead board" pattern wall paper - then custom painted to match my friend, Janet's room. Instead of placing a photo in the insert - I simply painted the wooden piece behind the glass chocolate brown to match the trim and monogrammed them for her and her husband. Now she has something uniquely hers.

These were jus' a couple of quick and easy tips I thought I'd share with you today. Have so much fun making your home your own!

Have a great day!

  7. Great ideas! Many of our curtain rods are simple dowels on brackets I had DH make even before we moved into this house. I saw them for a small fortune in a catalog and drew up the pattern myself.
    The frames are great too!
